Ichigo Kurosaki is an ordinary high schooler—until his family is attacked by a Hollow, a corrupt spirit that seeks to devour human souls. It is then that he meets a Soul Reaper named Rukia Kuchiki, who gets injured while protecting Ichigo's family from the assailant. To save his family, Ichigo accepts Rukia's offer of taking her powers and becomes a Soul Reaper as a result. However, as Rukia is unable to regain her powers, Ichigo is given the daunting task of hunting down the Hollows that plague their town. However, he is not alone in his fight, as he is later joined by his friends—classmates Orihime Inoue, Yasutora Sado, and Uryuu Ishida—who each have their own unique abilities. As Ichigo and his comrades get used to their new duties and support each other on and off the battlefield, the young Soul Reaper soon learns that the Hollows are not the only real threat to the human world.

Encoder's Notes

dedsec: If you are a fan of over sharpened encodes, you may skip this section entirely. However, if over sharepened video makes your eyes bleed and you respect the animatiors’ choice of keeping soft outlines, the DVD encode might be for you.

Bleach’s bluray releases are a dissaster and its not even our encodes’ fault, It’s remaster itself is messed up. All they did was a bad qtec upscale with weirdly sharpened outlines, messed up colors (Ichigo’s hair isn’t even orange anymore) and detail loss with a ton of grain over it.

Now, i wont claim that Lucy’s DVD encode looks better than Mad’s BD one. It certainly has more detail loss, but it is – in my opinion – the lesser evil. In the end, it comes down to preference.

I have no issue with filler as a concept but, If you put a filler episode during a filler arc during the climax of the main arc, rethink it.

it’s an extremely underrated anime with a strong supporting cast and great antagonists

Starts off strong but quickly collapses after first major arc. Nigh-endless fillers. Overly-repetitive plot structure. Great soundtrack.

Soul Society arc still one of the best shonen arcs. Rest of the series just couldn’t live up to it though.

I miss being 10

The non-action fillers, sense of humor, music and character designs are this show’s best qualities. The action’s good too.

Insofar as I have guilty pleasures (I don’t), Bleach is one. It’s pretty bad. But that doesn’t stop me from loving it.
